Our facility is seeking part-time corrections psychiatrists to supply care in the surrounding areas of Santa Ana, CA. 

Setting: Corrections (men's and women's)

Hours Needed: The shift is from 2pm-10pm

Schedule

  • Thursday and Friday is available. The hours are from 2pm-10pm
  • PRN available (same shift)

Assignment Type: Locum Tenens Only

Length of Assignment: 6-9 month commitment 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • at least one year of post-licensure experience practicing in a forensic setting
  • 100% on-site at one of the jail facilities.
  • Board Certification or scheduled/planning to take boards

Details

  • Total Number of Inmates– Daily population of ALL the jails is around 5500 (of course all do not need to see a Psychiatrist)
  • Patient Population: Most patients seen are severely mentally ill, some with history of addiction
  • Number of Beds Seen: Psychiatrist can expect to see 8-10 people per day.
  • Average LOS: The length of how long patients are there varies based on their sentence.
  • Initial Evaluations: 45 mins or longer
  • Follow Ups: 15-20 mins or longer

Community Info: Situated in the middle of Orange County along the Santa Ana River, the city of Santa Ana is both the most most populous city and the largest city in Orange County, covering 27.2 square miles. As of 2007, there were 327,780 people living in the city.  The village includes the Bowers Museum, the Old County Courthouse as well as several theaters and art galleries. The downtown area also contains both retail and housing, as well as the Santa Ana Civic Center and the Ronald Reagan Federal Building and Courthouse. Several historic homes dating from the late 1800s can be found there as well making preservation a central issue as development of the downtown area continues.
